Any Alexander McQueen fan will instantly recognise the iconic thorn branches motif, first seen on the runway of the seminal Autumn/Winter 2006 show, The Widows of Culloden, which references the late designer's Scottish heritage and the charged history of the Scottish Highlands. More recently, the branches graced Lana Del Ray's gown at the 2024 Met Gala, when new creative director Sean McGirr looked to celebrate the savoir-faire of the label's atelier in a new, contemporary way.
