Why is Gucci's Rosso Ancora colour so significant? Long before Guccio Gucci founded the Italian luxury empire, he was a luggage porter at the Savoy hotel, gaining an understanding of the tastes of the rich and famous as he lugged their trunks up the hotel's elevator - the first electric lift of its kind. The 'ascending room', as it was titled, was decorated in a rich hue of red, furthering the excitement of the experience. Over a century later, that hue defines the Signoria sandals in vivid patent leather, a showcase of creative director Sabato De Sarno's meticulous degree of attention to the House's legacy.
