One fated day in 1991, Ralph Lauren's employees gifted him and his brother, Jerry, teddy bears dressed up as them. The designer was so taken that he insisted the brand start selling cuddly toys wearing mini versions of its own garb. This was the origin of the Polo Bear as we know it, the mascot is now an icon of the House, taking pride of place on pieces like this sweater.
