The original Polo Bears were two stuffed toys clad in Ralph Lauren that were given to the eponymous designer and his brother by their employees as a joke. The potential in such an endearing mascot was clear, and the Polo Bear motif was soon conceptualised. It continues to adorn many of the brand's iterations, with this particular hoodie sporting the Regatta Bear variation.
