While Richard Steiff first gifted his bears movement with strings and discs at their joints, he later adopted metal rods for joining - a method hailed today as a true treasure - and though gold mohair was the most common choice during Steiff's early days, white mohair was a beloved rarity. The PB Replica 1904 honours this history, using rod joints and white mohair to replicate the look of these original bears, he even includes a period-correct elephant "Button in Ear".
